One of the last sightseeing trips we took with Aidan and Joseph before they left was to the Pantheon, a former church whose facade is modeled on the Pantheon in Rome. It is a national mausoleum for the honored of France. Among those buried there are Voltaire, Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, and Marie Curie.
The building is currently undergoing a renovation, and the restorers have constructed a self-supported scaffolding over the entire dome to avoid putting any weight on the structure. I was impressed with that sensitivity, but appalled by the graphics printed on the plastic sheath on the dome, which are repeated on the interior of the dome and the floor. Is this really appropriate for a memorial?
